Warpinator 1.07 is broken

Post by RamBurner »

Warpinator 1.07 is broken on LMDE4 as well as Mint 20 Cinnamon
I went back to 1.06 on both machines and it works again.
1.07 will install with no errors, but it won't launch on either machine.

1.07 launches on my Mint 20 Cinnamon. A while ago on a test machine, I uninstalled it and even though I later reinstalled it, it wouldn't launch. As to why, I don't know.

On the console you'll see: 'no module found named packaging'
Solution:
sudo apt install python3-pip
then
sudo pip3 install packaging

Apparently the issue was fixed with warpinator-1.08 yesterday, but only for LMDE it seems.
LM 20 is still at 1.07

Warpintor 1.0.8 was pushed to me this morning on Mint20 - default mirrors...

The 1.08 came out and both machines are fine and working again.
Looks like python got left out of 1.07 and it wouldn't work.

I can't see the point of Warpinator with its stack of dependencies.

If you want to send a single file to a single local machine on a 1-off basis (assuming your LAN is reasonably secure) its quite possible to use netcat to do this. It works with any Linux - you are not limited to Mint/LMDE.
Failing this, files can be simply sent via email [encrypted if necessary] as all machines can receive email.
