Impossible to establish a VPN connection with OpenVPN and Cyberghost.

Post by exit1998 »

Hello,
In LMDE 4 I have several VPN connections working via Cyberghost and OpenVPN, via networkmanager,a manually entered a script as in the description of Cyberghost, never encountered any problems.
But now in LMDE 5 it is impossible to establish a VPN connection with OpenVPN and Cyberghost.
I perform exactly the same operation as in LMDE 4 to establish the connection.
But I keep getting the entry, "The connection to the VPN network "openvpn" failed because the VPN service returned an invalid configuration".
The release of Openvpn is 1.8.10-1 in LMDE 4 and 1.8.12-2 in LMDE 5.
Who has any idea?

I had the Cyberghost script working after changing several things in the script when I was running LM20.2 (I had to contact Cyberghost support and send them a Cyberghost log file), but running LM20.3, no go.
Log-on to your Cyberhost account and go to settings, then download the Linux stuff needed.
Good luck.

Hi,
In LMDE 3 , LMDE 4 and in Linux Mint 20.3 I succeeded without any problems in manually adding the script in network-manager.
But I still can't get it to work in LMDE 5.

As far as I recall, after receiving a response from Cyberghost, I had to change the log-in password, then it worked in LM20.2.
Since LM20.3 I don't use the Cyberghost app/script anymore. I just open a browser/or Tor, log-in to Cyberghost and go from there.
Good luck.

How do you manually add the script in network-manager?
I may get it to work again in LMDE5.
Thanks for your assistance.

I just started using Private Internet Access (PIA) www.privateinternetaccess.com
Installed the Linux-PIA app, logged-on, selected country, and off we go.

I finally gave up on Cyberghost.
Good luck.
