Many years ago Knoppix delivered the first fully functional OS on a live CD and changed the Linux world forever. (Hurray for on-the-fly hardware detection!) My old Toshiba Satellite finally had painless multimedia!
The startup and shutdown sounds on that old disto were a womans voice saying "Initiating Startup Sequence" and "Initiating Shutdown Sequence". I have saved those .ogg files and replaced them after every reinstall ever since. Thought I'd share them here.
Replace the existing files in usr/share/sounds/LinuxMint/stereo with these:

Knoppix was created by Klaus Knopper and the voice is that of his wife Adriane.
