Has anyone any idea why did this happen?
I have no idea what is going on....
Why all these folders appeared in my home folder? (please notice the suffixes on these folders)
I just powered up my machine today and I found these in my home folder. I don't know what the problem is... [SOLVED]

Re: I don't know what the problem is...
those folders with a .DOT prefix are hidden folders/files just like in windows hidden system
in mint cinnamon file manager CTRL+H will hide/unhide them
that one .deb file that is locked you must have downloaded it to your home directory rather than in Downloads. you can delete that as root
if you have any more question please be more specific

Any folder with a . in front of it is 'hidden'.
You must have ticked the 'show hidden folders' box.
Go into Edit/Preferencees and find that box and untick it.

If you're referring to the directories that are prefixed with a period, those are hidden directories, which have probably always been there, and you're just now discovering.ellie145 wrote: Why all these folders appeared in my home folder? (please notice the suffixes on these folders)

Get used to exploring. I've been using Linux for over 20 years, and I'm still discovering new things.ellie145 wrote: I'm a new user (less than a year), still exploring!!

The whole "project" is really fascinating! I'm thrilled that I changed from Windows to Linux and I'll probably never go back!
