SHA256 sums did not match.

Post by jarp53 »

1-20-21 at 11:15 pm ; just downloaded the ISO file from EvoWise CDN and the sums did not much , I was very suspicious when the download was finish almost instantly , is that some kind of security issue that needs to be reported ? and I use the same mirrors for my updates of mint xfce , should I change the mirrors ? ; I use advancedhosters.com for the second try and the sums from them match.

I don't use "EvoWise", but I have observed sha256sum errors in various isos from various versions of LM in various mirrors.

I ran into this once

all I did was chuck the bad download and get a new copy from another mirror. the 2d try checked perfect

Don't skip the SHA256 check!

we should put together a bit of a bash script to make the checking easy-peasey. I might do that on my next download if somebody doesn't beat me to it ( they probably already have ) .

It's built in to Xfce (I'm pretty sure I didn't add it) so you just right click on an ISO and Check SHA256 is an option.

Yeah, I'm sure I didn't add it as it uses mint-sha256sum %f for the command, where I would have used just sha256sum %f

And to get back on topic, I don't trust the Evowise mirrors myself. I'm not surprised this happened. They are the fastest when up, but often go down.

I wish I would have known, I think is an important option that should be enfice in the official documentation , is the kind of tools that make Mint and Xfce a little above the rest
