Hi one and all,
I tried upgrading lmde using the upgrade tool but a report was made that there is no version file in /etc, so would some kind soul supply the contents and name of file for both lmde 4/5.
Thanks for the help.

From LMDE5 installation:
/etc/lsb-release
/etc/debian_version
/etc/lsb-release
Code: Select all
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=5
DISTRIB_CODENAME=elsie
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="LMDE 5 Elsie"
11.2

I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.

LMDE4 from ISO:
/etc/lsb-release
/etc/debian_version
There may be more, I couldn't find them. Try those anyway
/etc/lsb-release
Code: Select all
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=4
DISTRIB_CODENAME=debbie
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="LMDE 4 Debbie"
10.2

Re: no debian/lmde version file
there isn't such a file on my system or the live ISO. it may now be necessary (wiser) to do a clean install after taking a backup of your /home if it is not on a separate partition or drive.

Hi one and all,
Sorry to return to this subject/post but I found I was not quite correct as the correct location for the info file is /etc/mintupgrade/info.
Any pointers help is much appreciated as always...
