linuxmint.com change request

Post by Candle »

Hi sir/ma'am,

At the top of linuxmint.com the tabs read;

Home | Download | Project | About | Links

Could an additional tab be put in?

Home | Download | Getting Started | Project | About | Links

This Getting Started tab could have a bunch of articles in it that stem from newcomer questions. I was also hoping to see a Linux Command Line Interface (CLI) Basics article with a dozen or so common linux commands, but also, tutorials, installation guides, a Customize the Graphical User Interface (GUI) guide, etc. I do see tutorials on the forums here and installation guides under the Links tab of linuxmint.com, but that's all in kind of a weird location. Right after I download, I should click over to the next tab after Download and start learning about linux mint.

Thanks!

Looks a bit like a modified restart of that request: Request that a message be stickied....

There is no need to start messing with the forum or distribution homepage to please the minority of clickphobics who don't take the time to read through what is directly in front of them when they install the OS.

Open Welcome Screen again which came up straight after you installed Mint, it's accessible from the Menu you load other programs from.

Click Documentation and then read the manual in your language at your leisure. The section Where to find help contains direct links to everything else necessary for newbies and more advanced users alike including the CLI tutorial among others you are hankering after so much.

Then there's another option in Welcome Screen called Help and another called Contribute. Welcome Screen does cover everything necessary post install even if you have to click a few things.

If for any reason you are physically unable to click, turn on hover to click in System Settings>Accessibility

This happens all too often, right across the board and the full spectrum of posts on the forum. I've just ended participation in such a thread. Some people's expectations are absolutely, downright outrageous. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be in a minority.
Coming to a thread near you: Lots of bragging about my AMD 5950X. Currently delayed due to high demand.
It's pronounced kad-eye-cha, not kada-itcha.
