Okay, I'm just tossing the idea out there. I think that Build Essential should be included with the system, as that is a rather important feature. But, a less important one would be gpart.
gpart is to recover lost partition tables http://linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=17000
It may only have one use but it takes up about 50Kb so it's not that big... Anyhow, just a thought.

Re: Build Essential and Gpart
Build essential is only important if you plan to operate outside the default environment. I don't see a case for putting it in when space is so tight as it is.
Re: Build Essential and Gpart
Okay what about gpart then. Installed it takes a better part of 70Kb...
Re: Build Essential and Gpart
Acid_1,
I suspect for you it wouldn't be a bad idea. But as you have proven, you can seek it out and install it if you need it. I have had mixed results with gpart, which is why I didn't mention it in the thread you referenced. I fear that for most it would be an invitation to completely destroy their system before they got the advice they really needed.
Of course I have been wrong before...
