I'm using LM with one user. I wanted to prevent ppl, who does not know password, using my pc. Thus I did not check auto login on startup. But I realised that after loging in, pc does opening stuff for cinnamon session. I would be bad if you too are a genius like me, going pee after pushing power on button, hoping that pc completely started while toilet break. So an idea popped in my mind, if I could put a command on startup applications which triggers screensaver lockscreen, I would be victorious. After a little searching, I put "cinnamon-screensaver-command -l" command on session startup, it worked!
What I am suggesting is, it would be better if this was an option on autologin options in preferences application. I described such a simple thing in such a long way, I am such a freaking idiot. Sorry. Bye.

I don't see the point in checking autologin if it's to trigger the screensaver and have to type in your password anyway.

If you want to prevent people to use your computer, this attempt is useless. You obviously speak about a situation, where other people have 1. local access to the computer and 2. enough time to use the computer unobserved.

All what those people have to do is to boot the computer with live disk, delete or rename the related autostart file in ~/.config/autostart and boot into your system and account.

Your imaginary safety endures 2 minutes (the needed time for launching the live system) or less (if the live system gets booted with an usb-stick), than they can use your computer like yourself.

well, I just noticed that I wrote "prevent ppl", but I meant the "ppl" were my brother, friend etc. Don't imagine a hardcore security situation. Just to prevent the "ppl" seeing, spying my logged facebook, whatsapp, email accounts.
I see I've failed describing the idea of lockscreen thing. The purpose was letting desktop session start while I was peeing. Since It wouldn't If I did not check the autologin.

So "etc", which is not your brother and not one of your friends, can get access! You may allow "etc" whatever you want, but for a suggestion the ice is too thin.
