Default settings for xinput to improve trackpad feel

Post by smurfendrek123 »

I think that Device Accel Profile should be set to 2 instead of 1 by default, this results in a much faster and smoother trackpad experience.

If you would like to try this for yourself, open a terminal and run:

xinput list

Now look for the id of your touchpad (in the column with id=xx)

now run:

xinput list-props the id of your touchpad
for example: xinput list-props 11 (if 11 is the id of your touchpad)

and look for the number between brackets after device accell profile, for me this was 265

now run xinput set-prop the id of your touchpad the number between brackets 2
for me this becomes: xinput set-prop 11 265 2

if it's too fast for you you can increase the Device Accel Constant Deceleration in a similar fashion.

I think that this gives a much better feel to the trackpad and this feels a lot closer to the fantastic trackpad setting in fedora.
