Pale Moon Browser

I have noticed that there are Linux Distributions that have added the Pale Moon Browser to their repositories. I do like the direction this browser is going, versus Firefox. Please add to repos or software manager. Thanks. https://www.palemoon.org/

Again, if the Mint devs think there is enough demand for it, they will probably add it to the repositories. But I don't foresee that happening any time in the near future, so you will likely have to download it from the Pale Moon website and install it according to their instructions.

I run this as standalone package--no install necessary.
Does not seem to get as many updates as FF though

Sandbox? YMMV, it runs better and so far has not crashed at all. Firefox, not so much. Have a good one.

I guess all41 means a security sandbox, like firejail, to protect your system when an attack manages to escape the browser.

Considering that:
- Pale Moon continues to support NPAPI plugins while Firefox doesn't and Firefox didn't sandbox NPAPI plugins on Linux to begin with
- Pale Moon is as I understand it from version 25—late 2014—a full fork of Firefox but to this day CVEs for Firefox are found in Pale Moon's release notes
I'd be using it with a security sandbox as well.

Yes--keep every browser sandboxed and I recommend firejail as the agent.
The reasoning is this: firejail has config files for most any application already installed.
Firejail has your back way beyond your firewall protection.

As per your recommendation I have installed FireJail. I'm not familiar with using Sandboxes so could you give a little info on how to use it please ? Can I or should I run Firefox in FireJail ? Thanks !

EDIT: Hmmm I click "Run FireJail " and nothing appears to happen. I'm running 18.1 Xfce if that makes a difference.

I have a tutorial for installing and using Firejail: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=240157. And yes, as all41 said, use it on every web browser is a good idea. Firejail comes with profiles for most browsers (Firefox and Pale Moon among them).

Ok thanks I'll read your tutorial. I have clicked on "Run FireJail" but nothing appears to have happened. User error I'm sure. I'm using 18.1 Xfce if that makes a difference. Thanks again !

Hi-- so how did you install palemoon and how do you launch it?
The command to launch palemoon with firejail would be:
firejail <path to palemoon>
Here this would be "firejail /home/uno/palemoon/palemoon" because I extracted the palemoon file to my
/home directory.
To make sure you are running within firejail open a terminal and enter:

firejail --list

This should report each current instance of firejail sandboxing.
