You can get Linux Mint in Cherokee is there a way we could get it in Ojibwe? Like whats the hoops and processes. I know there might be federal monies out there for Language revitalization and grants to help a project like this. I think it would be good for communities to learn how to use Linux and at the same time use the Language with all the immersion schools being built. Any ways just an Idea.

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu. Most packages come from the Ubuntu repositories. Ubuntu in turn gets about 75% of its packages from Debian. So a translation to Ojibwe would start with Debian and Ubuntu. Unfortunately there is no Ojibwe translation for Debian (https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/) and while there is a Ojibwe translation team for Ubuntu (https://translations.launchpad.net/ubun ... l/+lang/oj) it looks like they haven't actually translated anything. There is no Ojibwe translation for the Linux Mint developed software yet but considering the status of Debian and Ubuntu that will not come as a surprise.

You mention you can get Linux Mint in Cherokee but that's not really the case as the translation status for both Ubuntu and Linux Mint shows also the Cherokee translators haven't translated anything (and there are no Cherokee translations for Debian).

Translations are done by volunteers from the Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint communities. For the Linux Mint developed software we have a guide for translators: https://linuxmint-translation-guide.rea ... en/latest/. Many translators are just people that speak both English and their native language, not professional translators.

If you think you can for arrange volunteers to do the translations, or for funding to hire professional translators, go for it! Anybody can start translating and their translations will be in the next release.

Thanks so much for the feed back and this would be an awesome project for a community, wanting to keep up with tech and bringing indigenous language to the future. I will surly be trying to find some help on this project. Thanks
