Suggestion for Linux Mint 19 "TARA"

Post by starlley »

 Essential programs like Wine should have already been updated with the latest stable version ...

 Gsmartcontrol should come as standard, because we need to have a more complete hard disk problem identification tool ...

One man's point of view >>>

1) Not only is WINE not essential, it is undesirable IMO. If you want to run win software, I think virtual machines - a la vmware, virtualbox, etc. are a better option.

2) HD diagnostic tools that get into tracks, sectors, heads, etc. strike me as special purpose software and not really part of an OS. Something that the user could install if desired is probably the better way to go IMO.
Full time Linux Mint user since 2011 - Currently running LM21C on multiple Dell laptops - mostly Vostro models.
