Geary just happens to be the most modern linux email client. It's very slick and quick, rich features, minimalist interface, rich-text emails, great stuff.
On my Mint 19 xfce, works nearly perfectly, except a minor issue

No calendar otherwise I'd be interested. Currently use evolution, prior to that a thunderbird user for years.

And it also has no kitchen sink.
There's a LOT to be said for doing one thing well.
Geary is totally different concept to Thunderbird, which is bloated, old-school, terrifyingly complex, and looks like AOL 1995.
