Laptop power saving

Postby Standov » Mon May 28, 2007 7:20 am

I had read the other night something about a project for Linux called Powertop from Intel. This project is suppose to find out programs that waste battery power and also reduce the number of CPU wakeup commands per second. It also stops processes from holding up processor bus time needlessly.
Has anyone heard of this project and maybe at a thought if it could eventually be incorporated into Mint, as I have checked the package manager, and, in my list it's not there.
Just about everyone who owns a laptop wants to extend the life of the battery.

Could someone pass this idea on to the developers for a future release.

Thanks for a great distro.

This makes sense if the Kernel is at 2.6.21.x
because some of the best features can only enabled for this kernel.
I vote for it :)
