What about disabling Firefox title bar to save space especially now Mint panel is larger because it uses a grouped list of applications per icon instead of an ungrouped window list [aka traditional] like it used to be in the past.
Grouped list [aka Modern layout](now larger, bigger)
So, people with small monitors/screens will have more important things than a huge amount of larger panels in a GNOME-like style.
Actual layout of Firefox on Linux Mint:
My proposal of how it should look like:
To disable the title bar manually, you should go to Firefox settings > Customize > Disabling Title Bar
I think the same could've been done with Chromium, but since it's not the default browser its up to Linux Mint. Now, Chromium is built by Mint in response to Canonical's snap Chromium.

Why not just make the panel smaller?

In Firefox click on the Hamburger menu and select Customize. At the bottom of the Customize window you should see the Title Bar checked. Simply uncheck it.

Cliff is right, you can have the smaller panel by adjusting the height. But if you prefer the traditional layout, open Mint's Welcome Screen again from the Menu and choose that layout instead along with your icon colour preference and dark or light theme. Any customisations you already made to the panel will be lost though.
There's actually a bug with Mint-Y theme and CSD for chromium based browsers. The window buttons are rendered blurry. It doesn't happen with Mint-X or numix-gtk, just Mint-Y.

I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.
