Update Manager: display last log

Post by EdInPa »

Occasionally I watch the details of an update proceed, and now and then something appears that I'd like see in detail... but then, the logging moves on and the window closes, leaving me to poke around to find where on earth that log file was. I seldom bother. Occasionally, useful information is there.

So, this suggestion is two-fold:
1) Add a "View / Last Log" command that displays the text that scrolled in the live window in a display box, from which it can be reviewed, copied, etc, at leisure.
2) Add a preference option to automatically display the Last Log after each (manual) update.

Hi,

if you do UpdateManager - View -History of Updates, this will show you what has been installed/updated,

alternatively, try /var/log/dpkg.log
