First of all, I like Linux Mint, love it even, but there's one thing that I would love to see being added as an option.
Please add the option to remember the application position and size located anywhere on the Cinnamon desktop.
This option is build-in into KDE Plasma and it's (almost) something I can't do without.
For example I open (Discord/Signal) chats located somewhat to the top right, while my browser window uses the rest of the Desktop located to the left of that chat Window. Having to drag/resize windows every time gets old and isn't adding anything towards productivity.
It should be as simple as launching app and then placing/sizing should be done automatically (after setting/saving it once).
For two screens or ultrawides this would also be a great feature.
I really hope it's possible to implement this feature into Cinnamon.

Yes I've known about (g)devilspie for quite some time now and there's also a xdotool solution, but I find both very 'hacky' and I'm not even sure
it's going to work when we switch to Wayland. Cinnamon is about ease of use, so a much easier to use built-in solution would be great to have.

I'm reviving this one as I would like to do the same thing. I would like one of my startup apps to open up on my secondary display at launch.
I tried to follow the instructions in the links, but only got error messages. It's maybe outdated?

In any case some apps do remember their location, and of course some do not.
Depending on which DE your using you can edit it's launcher, either right from the menu (as in MATE, and I think xfce) or by editing the .desktop file in Cinnamon, I believe located in /usr/share/applications.
This command worked to move Firefox to a different monitor at launch.
firefox & sleep 4; wmctrl -r Firefox -e '0,10,10,-1,-1' ; disown

I want to say I'm pretty sure that KDE Neon does this out of the box as I was just evaluating it, then again, I did not like how its settings are (dis)organized and require me to press "apply" each time, plus it was overall less flexible and more frustrating than Mint. YMMV.

I'd like to support this feature request.
I'm a productivity focused user, using Linux Mint as my daily driver to run my business. I use Mint because it does this so well.
But productivity focused users often use multiple monitors and / or ultrawide screens, where window positioning & sizing becomes a key part of the workflow. Having to do this manually over and over again really goes against what Mint is so good at otherwise - getting out of the user's way.
Therefore I believe that this feature would benefit a sizable part of the Mint community.
