Print to a file type "other than" PDF (DjVu, SVG, PS, etc.)

Post by Edgar1353 »

Why doesn't LinuxMint have the option to print in SVG, DjVu, or other formats? Everything is fine with PDF, it is used a lot, it is practical, but ... we are supposed to use free software, why use a proprietary format? I think I remember that years ago this discussion took place especially in LinuxMint.

I've been looking for a virtual printer for DjVu (which is much more efficient than PDF) but it seems to be stuck. It also does not help me that the PDFs created later can be converted to another format (it is an additional work), it would be ideal if there was a list with the required file types in the print box of the program in question.

Probably for the simple reason that PDF is a universal format, that can be viewed in any OS.

the other ones you mention, I have never used, what value would Post Script be?

the DjVu is one I am not familiar with at all.
