Undervolting

Post by Peter Linu »

I can't be the only one!
My laptop idles at 58deg. I have tried many programs that claim to reduce the voltage. None of them work correctly.
Please develop some software that works like Throttlestop works on Windows... or better!

Maybe you should be relying on yourself rather than developers.
Try a laptop cooling pad, then it is in your hands and not a developer.
You are in a hot country. A cpu/gpu produces heat. The fan only blows air over them. If the air that is being blown over the components is warm there isn't much you can expect.

You could also try canned air in the vents to blow out some of the old skin and dust that might have settled in your vents. Do this outside.

Have you also done what is suggested here, here and here:

https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/tips-1.html
https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... -mint.html

Also you should know by now to post your inxi when looking for help as someone may have other ideas about your hardware.

gittiest personITW,
I may be naiive but I'm not stupid!
1. If I knew how to write terminal code, don't you think I would have done it?
2. I have tried all your hardware solutions previously. None work well enough.
3. It is now winter in Sydney. The temperature is 10-20degC.

Nobody implied that you were stupid, that was your idea and your idea alone. Nobody knows if you can write terminal code or not, and the suggestion given to you was wholly valid anyway. You also made no mention of the solutions you tried. In fact you gave very little to go on so you got the best advice based on what you told us. Leaving people to make guesses then getting uptight when they didn't read your mind or wade through your extensive posting history is not a good way to get assistance.
