Single vs multi monitor : automatic setting switching

Post by PFalardeau2974 »

With Linux Mint Mate.

Problem : I can either use my laptop as a desktop computer (with multiple monitors) or as a laptop, when I'm not at my desk. Because I use it more as a desktop, desktop configuration (toolbars, icons, etc) is built for a multi-monitor setup. But when I unplug monitors, all the toolbars from 2 extra monitors move to the laptop's monitor and it is just a waste of space. It is like having 3 times the toolbar and menus on one monitors.

What I would need in a perfect world : a tool record and select Mate configuration. Like I would have no monitor connected and save the Mate desktop config, name it Something1 and then, connect my monitors, configure my desktop settings, save it under Something2. Then, whatever if I use external monitors or not, I could easily have a optimal desktop configuration.

Thanks for reading me.
