Hardware requirements

Postby Helmut » Thu Aug 30, 2007 11:42 am

After looking through the Mint website for really a long time, I did not see any notice of minimum hardware requirement.

For example: The XFCE version is often preferred because of speed and needing less resources, good for old computers. The remark "needs less resources" is quite vague and essentially meaningless. How about something like "minimum RAM xxx, Diskspace xxx, CPU xxx..."

That's because the hardware requirements is pretty much the same as for any other distro that uses X. xfce is more lightweight because of it's graphical front-end, which uses alot less hardware-power than gnome or KDE, thus, runs alot faster on older computers.

Other than that, the requirements is pretty much the same for every distro. =)
