Please consider adding this East Asian language font set

Postby contents » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:06 am

If there is room in Celena and later editions, please consider adding this font set. It includes all of the commonly used characters in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and will allow installation in those languages (since ubiquity has already been translated, all that are missing are the fonts). It will also allow people to read documents and web pages in those languages. This font set is, as far as I know, the only one that allows all three of those languages to be displayed. It's a GPL project on sourceforge. There's a .deb package already prepared.

The main sourceforge page is:
http://wqy.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/enindex.cgi

On the downloads page, the package to download is:
wqy-bitmapfont-0.8.1-7_all.deb

(Having the font set alone will not allow people to type in those languages. For that ability, some other files would have to be added).
