Apologies if this has been suggested before.
With CD downloads space is at a premium and sometimes useful applications are sacrificed.
Is it possible to add a file giving details of what compromises have been made and perhaps a shortage list of what has been missed off.
The shortage list could include details of the basic use of the application.

By doing this there would be more scope for pruning the size of the contents and at the end of the day the user will be no worse off.
LinuxMint 10 CD load leaves you with no java-applets in Firefox.

The download page already lists the differences between the LiveCD and LiveDVD.
"Missing some content (Java, VLC, F-Spot, OpenOffice.org-base, Samba, additional wallpapers and ttf-dejaVu fonts) to fit on a CD."
http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php
You can also upgrade to the DVD version in the LiveCD installer.

If all you need is the java browser plugin all you have to do is ask. Enter this into a terminal and press enter and you're in business.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y sun-java6-plugin
Note that it is going to also install a bunch a other java stuff that is need by the plugin.
