Automatic SSD support

Postby Neumann » Fri Dec 02, 2011 7:14 am

It would be nice to implement automatic support for ssd,
Doing Mint recognize and take care all partition things properly in instalation.

Mint is the best distro in my opinion.
Thanks to all developers!

I have installed Linux Mint 11 and 12 on multiple computers, all with SSDs as at least the root disk. Both SATA II and SATA III. From brands like Intel, OCZ, Crucial. Never had any problem with it getting autodetected (it is just a SATA device after all) or using auto partitioning.

Seems, like there are specific brands or models with which there are problems--possibly also when used with a specific motherboard or chipset.

Generally, there isn't a problem. Would be good if there was a place (like Ubuntu Friendly website) where any negative experiences with specific hardware and Linux Mint could be listed and searched. So as to be able to avoid those brands when buying a new computer.
