How to avoid the ignore TranslationIndex error

Postby nomko » Wed Apr 30, 2014 3:41 pm

Everybody experience this when updating Linux Mint:
Ignore saucy/multiverse TranslationIndex
Ignore saucy-security/restricted Translation-en

This can be solved easily by following the steps below:

  • Crete a file called /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99translations with this terminal command:

    Code: Select all

    sudo gedit /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99translations

    Code: Select all

    sudo pluma /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99translations

  • Add the following directive in the opened file:

    Code: Select all

    Acquire {
               Languages "none";

  • Save and close the file
  • In the terminal type the following command to remove the TranslationIndex files:

    Code: Select all

    sudo rm -i /var/lib/apt/lists/*Translation*

    This command requires confirmation for each file you delete. If you don't want to confirm every file, there's a quicker (but unsaver) way:

    Code: Select all

    sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/*Translation*

  • Then run this command in the terminal:

    Code: Select all

    sudo apt-get update

  • If everything went okay, the ignore error has solved and the system doesn't download the Translation Indexes any longer.

Good luck!
