Edit /etc/systemd/system.conf file adding a line DefaultTimeoutStopSec=10s

Code: Select all

xed admin:///etc/systemd/system.conf

OK! :)

I notice that there's already, by default, this commented line in etc/systemd/system.conf:

Code: Select all

#DefaultTimeoutStopSec=90s
Wouldn't it be preferable to uncomment that line, and change 90 into 10?

Yes, it produces less typos.

most excellent! this solved an issue i was having on one laptop that suddenly started doing this. been searching for a long time trying to find something that worked. don't have a clue as to why laptop suddenly started having this issue? it never had the issue with windows 7, lubuntu 16 & 18, or debian on it before.

thanks

p.s..

i take back what i said above. this did not fix the issue. must have shut laptop down to soon after rebooting although i thought i had waited long enough. the extended shut down time only happens after having been using laptop for a good while.

don't use that laptop all that often but when i do this is really starting to tick me off!

should probably start a new topic, but does the LMDE version work in a different way that laptop might not experience this issue? i know lubuntu never had this issue when it was installed on that laptop and i may go back to it just because of this.

thank you

This seems to have fixed the issue on one of my older laptops. Fingers crossed.
