Placing Icons on Desktop ???

I"m new to linux mint and having trouble placing icon like firefox and thunderbird etc.. I tried right click, dragging etc..but no luck... . tried Kubuntu and had no problem....

Just click & drag to desktop with LEFT mouse button.

Tried that, keep getting SORRY clipboard is empty or something...guess i got some reading to do

if ur using kde i dont know, but in gnome, if you right click the program in the menubar then it should have options like "Add to panel" or "Add to desktop" add to desktop is the one you want.

Thanks for the reply's, got it working finally, it' KDE and I had to right click the program in the start menu thingy and click on Edit item, on the left side I left click the icon and drag it....

I have another distro in dualboot with KDE and a right click on a program in the menu has the option "add the element on the Desktop" (as I am in French it's "ajouter l'élément sur le bureau") I think Mint KDE should have the same thing. :wink:
