Greetings, I've found a much better way to do what I described before. In Chrome, under preferences->basics, click the manage button (near search). then on the Search Engines window click add and enter the following values:

Name: Linux Mint
Keyword: lm
URL: http://www.google.com/search?q=site#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=%s+site:linuxmint.com

Click add again and close the extra windows. Now whenever you want to search the mint site just type lm + <tab> + your query into the address bar.

Ignore all that follows.

Greetings,

I saw this post: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=25794#p150641 and thought hey maybe people would want the same thing, but for it work with Google Chrome. Well, anyways here is how you add a google search tool to Chrome (via bookmarklet).

1) Tell your browser you want a new bookmark.

2) Where it says address paste this in:

Code: Select all

javascript:document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].appendChild(document.createElement("script")).innerHTML='<div id="cse" style="width: 100%;">Loading</div><script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"><\/script><script type="text/javascript">google.load(\'search\', \'1\', {language : \'en\'});google.setOnLoadCallback(function() { var customSearchControl = new google.search.CustomSearchControl(\'004419114940588264531:ovfkusndcbw\'); customSearchControl.setResultSetSize(google.search.Search.FILTERED_CSE_RESULTSET); customSearchControl.draw(\'cse\'); }, true); <\/script> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://www.google.com/cse/style/look/greensky.css" type="text/css" /> <style type="text/css"> .gsc-control-cse { font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; border-color: #009900; background-color: #99ff99; } input.gsc-input { border-color: #94CC7A; } input.gsc-search-button { border-color: #94CC7A; background-color: #AADA92; } .gsc-tabHeader.gsc-tabhInactive { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #FFFFFF; } .gsc-tabHeader.gsc-tabhActive { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #A9DA92; } .gsc-tabsArea { border-color: #A9DA92; } .gsc-webResult.gsc-result { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #FFFFFF; } .gsc-webResult.gsc-result:hover { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #FFFFFF; } .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:link, .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:link b { color: #0066CC; } .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:visited, .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:visited b { color: #0066CC; } .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:hover, .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:hover b { color: #0066CC; } .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:active, .gs-webResult.gs-result a.gs-title:active b { color: #0066CC; } .gsc-cursor-page { color: #0066CC; } a.gsc-trailing-more-results:link { color: #0066CC; } .gs-webResult.gs-result .gs-snippet { color: #454545; } .gs-webResult.gs-result .gs-visibleUrl { color: #815FA7; } .gs-webResult.gs-result .gs-visibleUrl-short { color: #815FA7; } .gsc-cursor-box { border-color: #A9DA92; } .gsc-results .gsc-cursor-page { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #FFFFFF; } .gsc-results .gsc-cursor-page.gsc-cursor-current-page { border-color: #A9DA92; background-color: #A9DA92; } .gs-promotion.gs-result { border-color: #94CC7A; background-color: #CBE8B4; } .gs-promotion.gs-result a.gs-title:link { color: #0066CC; } .gs-promotion.gs-result a.gs-title:visited { color: #0066CC; } .gs-promotion.gs-result a.gs-title:hover { color: #0066CC; } .gs-promotion.gs-result a.gs-title:active { color: #0066CC; } .gs-promotion.gs-result .gs-snippet { color: #454545; } .gs-promotion.gs-result .gs-visibleUrl, .gs-promotion.gs-result .gs-visibleUrl-short { color: #815FA7; } </style>';
3) Set the title appropriately.

Now when you click the bookmark a google search box will appear that only searches this forum.

Please let me know if I should post this in a different place/way.

This won't work in Firefox.

The previous instruction for creating a "lm" shortcut works great.

Another alternative for Chrome is the "Search the Current Site" app for Google searches.
