[Solved] Screen saver strings

Post by marouane87 »

Hello :)

I'm currently trying to help translating what remains untranslated to Arabic. And I have a question about the screen saver string.
It's actually like this:

Code: Select all

%l:%M %p

	Located in src/gnome-wall-clock.c:172

%A, %B %e

	Located in src/gnome-wall-clock.c:173
Is it standard format used by the system? (in this case, no translation shall be made)
Or the letters are just random and what matters is the format itself (%letter, %letter %letter)?

Thank you :D

Those are standard date and time format specifiers  You do not need to translate those format specifiers, though you could change them if the default format specifiers are less common for your language region. Here's an interactive page where you can enter the format string and see what it looks like: http://www.foragoodstrftime.com/

You can look up the format specifiers in the strftime manpage if you want, with the command `man strftime` on your terminal or online here: http://linux.die.net/man/3/strftime.
