Is there a reason why the Dutch translation of Timeshift has not been implemented in Cinnamon version 19.2,language packs/caches have been updated by me

Bug with the packaging in Mint's fork of Timeshift. The official version of Timeshift includes the translations.

We've translated Timeshift into Dutch a long time ago, for 100 %. I hope and expect that this'll be fixed soon....

Indeed a bit weird. I've just finished revising the teejee2008 translation; I'm already busy doing the same for the linuxmint translation.

Yes, but it's not getting included when building the .deb. ;)

edit: Actually I checked, it's not a packaging mistake, it's genuine bugs in the file in the mint repo so the file fails to build:

Code: Select all

../po/timeshift-nl.po:1781:18: syntax error

Good job. Compiles. Was going to recommend to do it upstream instead but saw you already did. Good man. :)

No, he hasn't. Tony George merged your upstream pull request. Your pull request against Mint's fork is still pending. Although I'd assume the fact that Clem tried to submit a patch against upstream indicates he's about to refresh the fork.

Think so, too... In order to prevent confusion I've cancelled my pull request for linuxmint/timeshift. My revised translation is now exclusively in teejee2008/timeshift.

teejee2008/timeshift branch has conflicts that must be resolved
It' isnt possible to merge files from teejee2008/timeshift into my own repositories, could it be that @clem is struggling with the same

Don't know... I think we should best leave that to Clem.

The string that wrecked the entire Dutch translation wasn't mine, by the way.... I don't know who caused it, but it was done by someone else after I had finished the Timeshift translation two years ago.

--Edit: less than an hour ago, Clem has already forked the fixed Dutch translation into linuxmint/timeshift. :)

Heh, no, I would expect him to rebase, not merge. ;)

I know, I was just poking fun. The irony was that it was actually the gentleman who created this thread who broke it. :P

Exactly, that's why I didn't call him out before, didn't think it was relevant. Shit happens, don't let that discourage you from letting the contributions coming.

I have only translated/adjusted a few lines almost 5 months ago, I was not aware that is the cause of no longer functioning ,I am so sorry, but as I said, this happened unknowingly

Thanks@Clem just received the latest version of Timeshift 19.01.02+tina and the dutch translation is ok

That's OK, Gruppo Sportivo, you're a good guy. :)

Translating on GitHub is more difficult than translating on Launchpad or Transifex, because there's less protection against syntax errors. It's a pity that the Timeshift developer has moved the translations from Launchpad to GitHub:
