Where to translate tune2fs / e2fsprogs?

Post by DarkgrayLord »

I signed up for the translation team... It's still not clear to me how to find and fix a translation error.

I found one in tune2fs, which I or any other native speaker could see the German translations and search for "Prüfsumme" and check each containing sentence, this spelling error could easily be fixed.
Where is this translation maintained (Mint, Ubuntu, Debian,?) and whom to contact or where to find/search for the file?
I tried to email the author of the tune2fs man page as the given address has a German domain, but that address is no longer valid.

Would a "bug report" be the correct response? Unfortunately, I got this only after mending my linux mint partition after copying - something I don't like to play around with to reproduce. Other devices did not come up with a warning.

tune2fs comes from the package e2fsprogs, which comes from the Ubuntu package base repository. Translations for Ubuntu can be improved through Ubuntu's launchpad but in general I think it's better to improve translations in the project itself. Delving through the commit messages on the e2fsprogs' code I find translations for e2fsprogs are done here: https://translationproject.org/domain/e2fsprogs.html. The German translation team is here: https://translationproject.org/team/de.html. I suggest you read guidelines on those two pages, and information for translators at https://translationproject.org/html/translators.html, and then contact the German translation team to get involved.

Hats off to you for wanting to help improve translations!
