Error: attempt to read or write out of disk 'hd0'

Postby jordesqu » Mon Mar 20, 2017 4:08 pm

I'm back again with a new problem! Hopefully I can get some enlightenment as to what's happened. :)

So, I installed Linux Mint 18.1 64-bit to an external hard drive in legacy mode. It went fine.
I try to boot it up and it says the following:
error: attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0'
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>

Why would it be doing this? Also, whenever I try to enter the following, it says this:

grub rescue> insmod normal
error: attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0'

And also:

grub rescue> normal
Unknown command 'normal'.

Thanks! :D
