How can I update Linuxmint 17.3 kde to Linuxmint 18.2 kde?

Reason: Added (beta) to the title because at the moment all Mint 18.2 editions are betas

Download the Mint 18.2 KDE .iso file.
Burn a DVD or USB using the .iso file.
Install Mint 18.2 KDE to the same / partition as 17.3
Alternatively, you can install 18.2 to a new / partition and dual-boot with 17.3

There is no reasonable "update" path. A fresh install is necessary.

Agree with Austin. Don't forget to back up all your data files and your home directory which contains application settings files that may be useful to copy to 18.2.

Is this your main computer? If so, it seems kind of silly to live or die on a beta. 18.1 would be a better option.

As the title says "update": Installing a beta version is not an update (more correctly: upgrade), as a beta version is for testing and finding possibly critical bugs, not for a production system.

I played around with KDE 18.2 beta and it's a minor upgrade to 18.1. uses the same plasma 5.8 with a minor revision. It's perfectly serviceable.

I would have no hesitation trying it out on a.productiom machine, since it will be updated to 18.2 final soon.
