Schenker xmg pro17 nvidia 1060 only on extern monitor without hdmi connection

Post by MAXON »

Hi,
starting 18.3 64 bit from dvd without a connected monitor the laptop display shows only the m logo and the 5 point progress.

After connecting a monitor the desktop is visible on the discrete monitor, after disconnecting the monitor the laptop display still shows the m logo.

That issue is also still present after a installation of mint on the system - but sometimes the laptop display shows the desktop without connected hdmi
and sometimes i must connect a monitor to get the desktop visible.

i added the 384 nvidia driver that makes no difference
i can not switch the display from extern to intern monitor.

changing from nvidia 384 driver to the open source derivate makes a blank on both displays.

It might be helpful to others if you can provide more information. Please post the output of this terminal command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Enclose the results in code markers, which you can select from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply.

Changing from hybrid to descrete display in bios does help.
Now i can view the desktop again only on the laptop display
without a connected monitor.

i have no the message that i have before i installed the nvidia driver:

"Software-Rendering-Mode Active"

I switched back to the nvidia driver and restart with descrete to see what happens.
The bios settings to descrete let me also see the desktop on the laptop display
wth the nvidia 384 driver.

This is the inxi result with the nouvou driver activated:

Is there only the intel grafic chip working with the descrete switch?
