Black screen after boot

Post by piovrauz » Tue Aug 13, 2019 2:59 pm

Just installed Mint Mate x64 v19.2 on my notebook, all worked perfectly... till I switched to the nvidia proprietary drivers (v340, using the driver panel).

The issue is a little strange: the system boots correctly, butn after logging in (autologin) the display turns off, becoming completely black.

If I use the Fn keys combination that turns off/on the display, it turns on again and I can see the desktop is loaded and usable.

Also, the icons I put on the right side are moved on the left, like the resolution was smaller when it was first loaded.

I installed nvidia-settings and the driver seems to be properly configured, except the applet is missing (the one that shows intel/nvidia GPU in use).

I'll gladly accept any help, thanks a lot.

Please post an inxi -Fxz report. This will give us a concise overview of your hardware and on how Mint sees it.

Here is how to generate the report and post it:

Open a terminal window. Make it fullscreen to avoid unneeded linebreaks or chopped lines. Execute the command

Code: Select all

 inxi -Fxzd
exactly as it has been typed here.

Mark the complete text output which the command will display with your mouse.
Press the keyboard shortcut <Shift><Ctrl>C to copy the marked text into the clipboard.
Enclose the results between the code markers by selecting </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply then paste <Ctrl>V them in your reply between the code markers.

The results will help us to help you.
