Hello,

I found the same problem and solved this problem commenting the part of code that check the Nemo version with "#" in the line six of file "cs_desktop.py"
path: /usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/modules/cs_desktop.py

I have the same problem but this sounds like a pretty dirty workaround to me... It does however fix the problem for now! I work with
Cinnamon 4.0.9-1~bionic
Ubuntu.18.04

I have the same problem, no success, but this is my result:

cinnamon-settings:

Code: Select all

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/cinnamon-settings.py", line 619, in <module>
    window = MainWindow()
  File "/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/cinnamon-settings.py", line 247, in __init__
    for module in modules:
  File "/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/modules/cs_backgrounds.py", line 5, in <module>
    import imtools
  File "/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/bin/imtools.py", line 623, in <module>
    if Image.VERSION == '1.1.7':
AttributeError: module 'PIL.Image' has no attribute 'VERSION'

Oh dear - the correct fix for the original problem highlighted in this thread is

Code: Select all

apt install --reinstall gir1.2-nemo-3.0
