I installed it on a usb drive and it boots up but will hangup after a few minutes after clicking on the mouse. I have tried booting up several times and it occurs at different actions and times. In the log I have an error: Initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed. I don't know if that is relevant to the hanging up.
Thank You,
Mike

Re: Installed 20.1 cinnamon on usb drive and it is hanging after a few minutes
I do have a graphics card apart from the graphics on the motherboard
Re: Installed 20.1 cinnamon on usb drive and it is hanging after a few minutes
If it is trying to boot to the Nvidia graphics it will most likely need a Nvidia driver which can be found in the driver manager.
Install the recommended driver and reboot.

Re: Installed 20.1 cinnamon on usb drive and it is hanging after a few minutes
How can I install since Mint is running from a USB drive. It seems like anything I do is not saved when I boot it back up
Re: Installed 20.1 cinnamon on usb drive and it is hanging after a few minutes
That is true if you are running the live session what ever you do is not saved on reboot.
only thing you can do is test it and see if it stop the freezes. Then you will know what you must do if you install the system.
Also you should look at the release notes found here: https://linuxmint.com/rel_ulyssa_cinnamon.php
scroll down to solving freezes during boot.

Re: Installed 20.1 cinnamon on usb drive and it is hanging after a few minutes
I bought a new sshd and installed 20.1 on it using compatibility mode (the only one on the usb drive that would not hang up) and and after loging on to the new drive after install it hung up but I rebooted and quickly changed to the nvidia v: 460.32.03 driverand rebooted and so far it has not hung up. I also disabled the onboard graphics
