My mint 19.2 system has started to ask “ please unlock disc sda_crpt I have never encrypted it or locked it. is there an easy answer to this or do I have to do a new install?

Open a terminal and enter Show us the output and enclose the output with code tags; you can use the
Code: Select all
sudo parted -l</> button in the forum for that.-

I can’t do that because Mint will not boot because it tells me the disc is locked as in previous message therefore if it wont boot up then I cant run terminal.

Boot the live system, which you used for installing Mint. Open GParted and take a screenshot.
