unreadable text at login screen

Hi hope someone can help with a problem I'm having with unreadable text at the login screen . This only occurs after I have installed the nvidia driver , but if if I remove the driver all is fine again . I'm running mate under mint 13 . Any help much appreciated thanks .

Take # off in the front of #GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480 and run update-grub after the operation.
gksudo pluma /etc/default/grub

# The resolution used on graphical terminal
# note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE
# you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480

Save and quit
sudo update-grub

Thanks for the reply but still cant read the text after doing what you said . Just the nvidia driver messing with something . Never had this in previous versions of mint so dont know what happened . Will just remove the nvidia driver .
