Acer Aspire 3000

Post by ElQuia » Wed Aug 15, 2012 4:50 pm

Hi I am trying to install Mint 13 on an Acer Aspire 3000, tried with xfcd and mate versions, both hang halfway trying to boot

Anybody with any tips or experience with this notebook please?

Live cd boot freezes with this last line:

[115.136004] [<c1576ed4>] syscall_call+0x7/0xb

OK could start live cd's both mate and xfce in "compatibility mode". Did the graphic installation, setting 3 partitions (/ - /home - swap) and spanish language
Insallation finishes ok (after more or less 60 minutes dowloading language packs), on reboot: BLACK SCREEN. NOTHING

PLEASEEEEE Help!!!!!!!!!

First you have to make sure there is nothing wrong with the DVD or CD you are using. Do you know how to check md5um?

Dvd's are OK, all install ok in virtualbox.
I tried:
Linux Mint 13 XFCE, installed ok in compatibility mode froze to death on first reboot
Linux Mint 13 Mate, the same, neither will run live if not in compat mode
LMDE XFCE, the same.
Lubuntu 12.04, the same.

Finally installed CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf", ran install in less than 20 minutes with screen and EVEN WIFI working out of the box.

So it must be a driver thing.

Would love to know how to make a mint distro work, this is my sisters machine and she is a windows gal, openbox (CBang comes with openbox) is a bit to much for a total noob).

IDEAS? :?: :?: :?:
