Grub loading error

Postby rgentry » Sat Apr 12, 2008 12:14 am

Hey, I've been having some problems with Grub. When I boot into the mint partition it says Grub loading 1.5 and below that Grub loading...
It never gets beyond that and I have to hard reset. I'm not really sure what the problem is, I've been able to use Mint 3.0 and Ubuntu 7.10 without a problem using the standard installation methods. This happens with both Gnome and KDE edition of Mint 4.0. Is there anything I can do? Hardware is intel core 2 duo macbook.

That's the reason. Macbook can't use gfxgrub which is used in Daryna. I have suggested we skip it in the future due to this problem.
The solution is to install a normal grub - look here
The link in my answer gives an in depth explanation - and it's not hard to do, just an annoynance for macbook users. Note that dual boot with mac gives extra problems
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
