Error loading Grub

Postby lfelipe » Mon Apr 21, 2008 10:14 pm

Hi all!

I have installed Mint 4.0 a couple weeks ago, and since the first time I reseted my notebook, I receive a message like this from Grub:

"Grub loading stage 1.5.
Grub loading, please wait...
graphics file "etc/grub/" missing, press a key to continue..."

How can I fix it?

Are you running the Gnome version or the KDE version?

Also, are you using a separate /boot partition?

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and each time expecting a different result.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on the menu. Liberty is an armed lamb protesting the electoral outcome. A Republic negates the need for an armed protest.

Alt+F2 - write gksudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst - enter your password and in the file that appears comment out gfxmenu=/etc/grub/ by entering ## in front of it. Save and exit. Reboot to see if it worked, which it should.
If this is kde use kate instead of gedit or in the xfce version replace gedit with mousepad.
