Creating Smaller Installer Image

Postby blacksheep » Thu Feb 28, 2013 9:30 pm

My computer's DVD-reading capabilities are busted, but it can boot from CD just fine. Is it possible to create a Linux Mint installer that can fit into 700MB?

Not sure, if your system supports booting from USB and if you've a 2GB USB to spare, you could check this out
If there is a drive, there will be a path

I found a LM 13 Mate cd size iso on the forums here and installed it to an old laptop with the same problem, adding in the extra packages post install, works great. So it can and has been done.
If I find the link I'll post it.

Here it is

Mint 17.3 XFCE (desktop), Raspbian (Raspberry Pi) Devuan 32 bit (spare old laptop) Bunsen Labs, Android phone and tablet. I am now completely free of anything Microsoft.

You can also burn the plop boot manager to the CD and use that to boot from the USB.
