Grub didn't install properly on Mint 5

Postby Genghis Prawn » Thu May 22, 2008 8:24 pm

I attempted to install Mint 5 today. When i rebooted after install from the live cd grub failed (error 15 I think). I used a gparted cd to get to a grub menu then found my ubuntu 8.04 install and modified the appropriate lines to get to the mint install and booted. I found that the install didn't create a menu.lst file. I had to generate one using instructions I found via google. It now boots properly.

Glad you made it. Do you have a complicated partition structure?
There seems to be a bug in the installer with grub in that case - hit me really hard at first....
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
