How do I boot into single user mode with Mint 14?

Post by mozkill »

How do I boot into single user mode with Mint 14? When I hold down the Shift key and boot to the recovery mode menu, when I choose "boot into root shell" it prompts me for the root password. How do I do the equivilant of "linux 1" in Grub but using Mint?

That command does not need your root password it is run from sudo so uses your user password.

If you have lost your root password have you tried this:
