I want to dual boot with ubuntu but Mint wants to use 93% and leave ubuntu with 7% in the past when I've done this its usualy around 50% for each install.

Just partition manually, and tell Mint what to use. Every distro's installer will try to procure as much space as possible for it's self. Mint is not greedy .
