Cant run live CD(Mint 12)

Postby HrKy2013 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 1:47 pm

I have old pc... Pentium 3, Nvidia Geforce4 MX440 with agp8x, 768ram...
and i am trying to install Linux Mint 12, but i cant even run live cd.
i tried compactibility mode too... when i press any option(run, or run in compactibility mode) i got black screen and than, some bunch of letters, and than after few minutes it shows me like bunch of letters with mint version, and website link at the end..
and after that nothing, just stays there... anyone knows how to fix that?

Hello, HrKy2013.

Yes, I know how to fix this problem: use a more recent and more powerful machine. Seriously. No sarcastic kidding.
On my old Pentium III I have not even managed to install Ubuntu 10.04 (corresponds to Mint 9) way back in 2010. And Linux Mint 12 is even more resource hungry than Mint 9, in particular with respect to graphics power.
So based on my own experience I assume that Mint 12 cannot be persuaded to run on your ancient hardware in any acceptable way, if at all.

Kind regards,
Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.
