Kernel error on boot...(Nevermind)

Postby KilUma » Tue Apr 16, 2013 5:49 pm

After choosing Linux Mint in GrUB, I get the following error

Code: Select all

Error: Attempt to read outside the disk /hd0
Error: You must load a kernel first

Press any key to continue...

When I press any key, or wait a few seconds(about 5), it returns to the GrUB menu.

Thanks for any help...!

I have made no(or attempted to make any) changes to the system beyond basic system updates.

Kernel error on boot...(Nevermind)

So, I decided to format my extended partition(sda4), instead of trying to work out the issue.

This is my new setup:
>sda4---------(extended partition)-----------------------550GB
->sda5--------(swap)-----------------------------------------1GB
->sda6--------(Ubuntu 12.10)-----------------------------40GB
->sda7--------(Kali)-------------------------------------------40GB
->sda8--------(PCLinuxOSFullMonty)-----------------25GB
->sda9--------(Fedora18)-----------------------------------25GB
->sda10------(/home)----------------------------------------419GB
->sda11------(ext4/Undefined hidden partition)----1GB

I now share sda10/home between Ubuntu, Kali, and PCLinuxOS. Fedora wouldn't let me use sda10 as /home unless I formatted it, and Fedora was the last OS I installed, so that would have presented an issue. Instead, I am using /sda9 as '/' and '/home'. Also, the mbr is on /sda1; Win7 is on /sda2; Dell/OS recovery is on /sda3. It all works flawlessly.
