How can I add/merge /dev/sda6 to /dev/sda1? I do not want to keep the data of /dev/sda6, but I want to the data /dev/sda1.
Grub is on /dev/sda1.
See attachment. My disk is a SSD.
(sda1: Mint 13; I was curious and installed Ubuntu on sda6, dual boot, but I want to discard Ubuntu now.)

Your sda1 is in Primary, sda6 is extended.
You do not want to keep sda6..ok?
Then, do this
1. boot from Live DVD or Live USB,
you cannot work on partition when running on sda1 or sda6.
2. run Live, and run gparted
if necessary unmount all partitions and swap off
3. delete sda7
4. delete sda6
5. shrink extended partition while keeping the swap on sda5
6. when all is good, now you can expand the sda1 to cover what was left unallocated from step 5.
note: DO NOT touch sda1's left hand side or start of partition.. or else your sda1 cannot boot.
7. reboot and hope for the best
Re: Merging partitions
Thank you.
I can not shrink the partition.

Re: Merging partitions
there is some 'icon' next to your swap partition.
try to turn off the swap, right click on swap partition and select 'Swap off'.

Re: Merging partitions
I can only delete the partition, not unmount or whatever.
Or can format it as linux-swap. So it is not a swap-partition?

Re: Merging partitions
You must also actually commit the deletion of the two logical partitions you selected (those listed at the bottom) before trying to shrink "from the left", the extended partition.
Edit: your swap partition is probably either damaged or encrypted.

Re: Merging partitions
Thank you/merci, but that did not help. And I can' t get rid of the icon of the swap-parition.

Re: Merging partitions
Your posts where you say you cannot shrink the partition are pointing at unallocated space -- NOT a partition.
Now that you have unallocated space in the front part of the Extended partition, you need to highlight that and shrink it.
